Prepare the game before you prepare the decorations. The useful questions are who will play, what needs printing, and who will host.
Check the group
Match the game to the children who will attend. Check its stated age range, player count, and adult-host requirements.
The Cloudlight Express is our printable escape game for four to six children, ages nine to twelve. It requires an adult host.
A printable game is a download. It does not include paper, printing, scissors, or pencils. Check those supplies before the party.
Read before printing
Open the host guide first. Use its print list so you do not print every file without checking its purpose.
For The Cloudlight Express, prepare 13 sheets and cut out 27 pieces. Keep the host materials separate from the pages that the children use.
Check the print preview for the selected paper size and any clipped edges. Print one page first if you have not used that printer recently.
Set up the game
Use a table with room for the shared pieces. Keep drinks and food away from the paper. Put the host guide within your reach.
Follow the setup order in the guide. Avoid adding your own hiding places unless the instructions support them. A missing piece can stop the group.
- Count the printed pages against the guide.
- Cut and count the required pieces.
- Arrange the materials in the stated order.
- Keep host answers separate from the playing area.
Help everyone join
Ask the children to share what they notice. Read a clue aloud when needed. Give every child a turn with the materials.
If one child takes over, ask another child to explain the next observation. Keep the conversation about the puzzle instead of speed.
Use the supplied host guidance when the group gets stuck. Avoid announcing the answer before the children ask for help.
Check the kit
Look at the actual product previews before choosing a game. Check whether the text size and page format fit your group.
The Cloudlight Express download contains four PDF files. Its product page lists the contents and preparation details.
Leave setup time outside the party schedule. Printing and cutting are host preparation tasks, even when the game itself is ready to download.
