Choose your print option

Keep the solution closed during preparation. Set up only the materials that the guide tells you to open.
Make room for the evidence
Clear enough table space to place pages side by side. Put drinks on a separate surface so that both players can handle the evidence.
Keep something to write with nearby. Note names, events, and questions as you read. Mark a guess as a guess until a clue supports it.
Choose food that you can pause easily. Treat dinner and the game as parts of the same evening, with breaks when you want them.
Investigate together
Read the opening instructions together. Take turns describing what each clue says before you debate what it means.
When your theories differ, identify the evidence behind each one. Return to the page together instead of relying on memory.

Open the ending
Agree on your conclusion before opening the solution. Explain how the evidence supports it, including any detail that does not fit.
After the reveal, compare your notes with the explanation. A fixed mystery loses its surprise once you know the ending.
